We're all right
I hadn't realised the story had made CNN. P. and I were out for supper and then at the observatory with Neighbours P. and M. when things kicked off; as there's no mobile signal out there, we had no idea what was happening until we came home at 10.30 to a frantic message from Dear Friend S. It was not a peaceful night: we could see the police helicopter keeping a spotlight on the boat, and hear gunshots - the CNN article didn't mention that the man was taking shots at the helicopter and the police boats; a woman living near the harbour was watching through binoculars and posting updates to Nextdoor - and P. wasn't able to sleep before 2.
We had been having a really good day up until then, too. :-(
DS is on his way over; there will be a great deal of hugging, but we won't be walking down at the waterfront today, as it's a crime scene.
