I mean, aside from "still a pandemic happening" reasons:
Washington State Department of Transportation posted on Twitter late Sunday night that its website, cameras, alerts and mobile app were down. The outages continued Monday morning, with WSDOT saying on Twitter that it had been working all night to restore the tools.
41 minutes ago they added, via Twitter, that their phone center and customer call centers were also down. The neighborhood groups are blowing up with people asking about the boat schedule, which seems to be "two boats, winter schedule - in actuality it's anyone's guess, good luck". 140 sailings were canceled across all 10 routes on Friday:
[Amy] Scarton [deputy secretary for the Washington State Department of Transportation] hopes for a recovery after this weekend, but anticipates something like a “snow route,” where communities keep their ferry connections but with fewer trips.
P. and I considered and decided to do the Costco run yesterday. The amazing chocolate-mint Christmas cookies were there, but the packaging is different and there are only three sleeves of cookies, not four; still no mammoth tins of Walkers' shortbread. Vanilla beans were on the shelf, and I grabbed a vial. Butter and eggs and tinned tomato sauce, batteries and dishwasher tablets and the big bottles of Cetaphil, things I think of as staples that are increasingly picked over at Safeway, or not on the shelves at all.
