Movie Review: Saturday Night (2024)

Nov 15, 2024 12:13

Oct 11 1975, the first airing of ‘Saturday Night Live’. This goes behind the scenes and stars Dylan O’Brien. Tickets handed out on the street. No names star. So much talking. Based on a big lie. Andy Kaufman lurks. Chevy Chase grates. Censors loom. Mamet speak takes place as do brawls and muppet mocking.  Full of dudebro 'comedy'. Milton Berle appears. DNF.

Best Lines:

“Act of harvesting molluscs.”

“Violence, really?”

"YOU WILL BE FORGOTTEN!"

"What no comeback?"

"You'll have to scrape it off the back of your mom's teeth."

"Ninety minutes of live television from a group of twenty-year-olds who've never made anything! Do you ever stop to wonder why they said yes? A counterculture show starring total unknowns with zero narrative and less structure? They want you to fail."
