Watched 2 'Murder She Wrote' eps. Alice Krige was in one ep that ripped off 'Soapdish'. On the set of a daytime soap people with no good intentions have wilful longing and perilous moments. There are terrible consquences to an ambitious woman. The victim du jour is typically dismissive and outright ignorant. There are queasy power dynamics and no fashionable opinions. This was kinda compelling as the humourless doomsayer head writer dies. There are wacky ideas and a patriarch actor. There are grim forecasts and systemic fragility and disquiet. This is into worshipping the past. Daytime soaps are a thing of the past. Things turn exasperating.
There are strange attachemnts and turmoil and the soap goes horribly wrong. There is no comradeship and happiness onset. There is no startling intensity. There are inept self important actors played by actors who can't act. There are aggravations and no charm. The insufferable Jessica and her granny dress sense runs around. This was never elevated to brilliance. This was not heart rending or morally complex and it had no lively realism or heary spirit. There is grouchiness and strident 'actors'. This ended up as dire hubristic folly.
The 2nd ep took place at a school. James Joyce was mentioned. This ep was total blazing bollocks. There was no horrific revelation. Feuds are carried out to nuclear extremes and gossip is no principle. Scum people have sheer determination. People are stupid and sneaky. There are bitter and personalised fights. The black pox on all of them. This ep was completely disingenuous. This was not grimly amusing.
