fat naked people

well i've decided that this summer i'm going to be somewhat productive, because i'm tired of never doing anything. it's almost like i'm not in control of myself. before i didn't care but then i started thinking what can come of it. the first thing i thought of was this picture i've seen before of this fat naked lady sitting on a blue cooler at the ( Read more... )

I guess going out and doing stuff is great for a lot of people, feeling productive making the most out of everyday life sounds great and all, but where do people draw the line of productiveness versus wasting time.

What I mean is...America has become this great big conglomerate of people who, quite frankly, know more than anyone else. We can't eat too much meat, cheese is not as healthy as fruit, too much fat is bad, 0 carbs = a more healthy you, being productive is better than not being productive. But I do not see a point in all of this. Does running make any difference? How about going outside 12x more than normal, does loser = you?

I'm just kidding, but in all seriousness, productive and active are two completely different words.

Productive means, having children, looking for the curefor cancer, preforming a task in the most constructive way possible. Obviously you are tired of sitting around not really doing anything, but will getting sunburned get you anything? Before you go nuts and insensibly send yourself into a frenetic, why don't you decide what you want to do in college, majors? Studying? Productive would be the best words to describe that.

Just a thought. Haha...man, is logic awesome or what? Uncertainty is the death of a peaceful future.

well i used running as an example of what i did on that certain day. i didn't say it is all i plan on doing. as you see in the later part of that post it says that i plan on reading a ton of stuff. and while it is not the most productive thing it can still be considered as something productive. can't you say that achieving a goal is being productive?

you're right logic is awesome.

A goal is only productive if it serves a higher purpose. If not, it was only selfish.

An action that was, in it's nature, designed to the improvement of ones personal self. Essentially, an act that only benefits oneself. An act explicitly for ones benefit. An act with no other in mind. Something like that.

so is everything you do for yourself selfish? so then is selfish bad? productive=good. so how can doing something productive for yourself be bad? i guess you could argue that productive isn't always good. but how someone never be selfish?

oh, something i wondered. hackthedark May 26 2005, 19:23:26 UTC
"maybe i'll leave some room for wasting time. all i know is that there won't be much time for you. so i'm going to keep busy so i don't have to think about it"

Ouch. Was that directed to me? I think buying a gun and shooting me in the stomach would have been more considerate, living with pain is worse than receiving it upon death. But if it wasn't, which I certaintly hope, but can't possibly imagine why, sorry.
