It's not me I swear!

After seeing the trailer for this movie, I was dying to see it, but somehow I never did.
It's coming out on DVD on May 12th here. It's based on Bruno Hébert's book C'est pas moi, je le jure! -- I've only read excerpts from it, but I loved them. It's basically the story of a late-60's young troublemaker whose mother leaves his family. The movie itself looks hilarious, and just really pretty, but simple:

You can watch the trailer here, and a great review here.

Patrick Watson
I wouldn't have mentioned the previous movie if its soundtrack wasn't completely composed by Patrick Watson.
You can listen to it AND download 2 songs from it here. (click on Télécharger 2 MP3 de la bande originale...")
His band has a new record coming out April 28th and they're going on tour in North America &Europe soon! /myspace

Coeur de Pirate
Béatrice Martin is a young songstress whose name, in the past few months, has been on everyone's lips. She's been featured on Perez Hilton (although that's generally not a good thing, it was in her case), commercials, blogs worldwide, and my entourage's conversations (we're very amused by the fact that the video for Ensemble was filmed in our secondary school & that they made it look so clean, you see)
Also on tour, check out her pretty face: myspace.

Cocoa Locale

I'm mentioning this cake shop mostly because I got a scrumptious chocolate-orange cake
from there for my birthday dinner for the second year in a row & I'm trying to save the last slice for dessert tonight.
Cocoa Locale is a one-woman show - Reema Singh bakes all the goods herself with the best ingredients around.
It's nothing fancy schmancy, but homey with a kick (chocolate-chai! brownies with chili pepper flakes!)
The shop is the prettiest, tiniest, and smells good too: 4807, Parc Avenue.

Others

If you're planning a trip to Montreal this summer, be sure to check out Osheaga, which usually has an amazing lineup (although not so this year).
On tour around the world: Plants and Animals, Malajube, Handsome Furs
and a (non-extensive) list of other great Montreal music acts here
--I'd write about their greatness too, but I'm running late. Oops.

hi everyone! long time no see.
long story short: i feel lucky for living in Québec. we have so many great, talented people here, and i wanted to talk about some of them, because i know you'll like them too. (i should've written something else on the preview image, it's not very accurate)
