So, the fencing tournament went a lot better than I had anticipated! I had expected to lose all my bouts (as is not unsual for a first tournament) but instead I won two! This was especially exciting because one of the two bouts was a DE bout (direct elimination). Normally, in pool bouts, they go to 5 touches. However, DE bouts are 15 touches. I pulled it off, even if it was only 15-14 :-p Unfortunatley, for my next DE bout I got matched up with the NWern epee captain... I bouted him in pools and he whalloped me 5-0. Nevertheless, before the bout, I resolved to get atleast two touches on him. What was the final score? 15-2. I knew I wouldn't win, so just to screw with his head a little bit my very first move of the bout was going for the toe-touch. I didn't get it, but it was still fun to see him confused :)
