Dear colleagues,
the preparatory planning for the afternoon sessions of the 14th International Congress of Greek and Latin Epigraphy has been completed. There will be sessions on the following topics:
Tuesday 28 August 2012
Harbours: infrastructure and society
The world of the Military
Inscriptions in private space
Inscriptions and the digital world
History of epigraphic scholarship
Thursday 30 August 2012
The measurement of space
Sanctuaries and cults
Inscriptions and Christian cult places
The dialogue of the living and the dead: tombs and their inscriptions
Space, image and inscription
Lectures (15-minutes long) on these themes should be suggested to the appropriate section directors until the end of march 2011. Contributors are asked to propose topics that are relevant to the thematic sections, but should ensure above all that they adhere to the main theme of the Congress: DISPLAY - MONUMENT - TEXT. Proposals with a short abstract should be sent to the director of the appropriate session. The e-mail addresses of the session directors can be found on the Congress web-site:

Proposals and short abstracts for these sessions should be sent to the e-mail address tituli.novi@congressus2012.de.
It will also be possible to offer poster presentations in A0 format. Poster proposals and short abstracts should be sent to the e-mail address poster@congressus2012.de.

Please excuse multiple postings of this e-mail.
With collegial greetings on behalf of the local organising committee,
