Update of 2011! So far: good.
I want these posts to be separate, so there's gonna be some fic-exchange-claims appearing soon! But this one is just personal stuff: Some interesting things that have been going on for me!
(1) I felt seriously Winchester-ish on New Year's Day. I spent it out with my dad, on my stomach on the driveway helping change oil hoses on a beautiful vintage car, then went inside and listened to Led Zeppelin II (mostly "Ramble On") on an old reel-to-reel tape player. :D
(2) Master and Commander has ruined me for all other sailing movies. Watched an old Alec Guinness film called "H.M.S. Defiant", which I should have loved because I love anything about the Napoleonic-era Royal Navy, but I spent the whole time criticizing his sail-trimming, naval tactics and leadership skills. "No, no, don't lay alongside, cross her and rake her stern!" "Too many sails!" "Jack Aubrey would never put up with that shit from a first lieutenant." So we watched M&C the next night instead. Still my favorite movie.
(3) Watched Ocean's 11 tonight, new version. I never noticed how much Brad Pitt sounds like Jensen Ackles. Seriously, listen to the first few minutes of him in that movie without looking up, you'd swear it was Dean....and now I want an Ocean's 11 heist movie AU. (Let's see, eleven people....Dean, Sam, Cas, Bobby, Ellen, Jo, Gabe, Crowley, Henriksen, Chuck and Ash. Who's with me?)
(4) Speaking of fic, can I get some input on something? I'm signed up for the Gabriel Big Bang, which I will probably not manage but I want to at least attempt. But I need to decide what to write! I can't decide between writing one (A) set in pre- and during Season 1 of Gabriel messing with John, but then getting involved in helping him stop Azazel, or (B) a season 5 AU where Gabriel decides the best way to hide the boys from Michael and Lucifer is to transport everyone back to the Old West, where there are time-travel shenanigans, Cas being awkward in a cowboy hat, and they get to meet Samuel Colt in person. ....I think I just picked option B. Huh. That was easy.
