OH MY GOD BEST DAY EVER, YOU GUYS. i'm totally revaluating my initial opinion of vegas. :D then again, this is probably because i am travelling with my family this time, which means we are all being a little less conservative about expenditure (transportation! shows! food!) and IT HAS BEEN SUCH A BLAST, i am actually kind of sad to see our time here come to an end.
it's been crazy hectic when i think about everything we've managed to do over the past couple of days, but i guess this coming on the heels of disneyland makes it seem like a cakewalk. we landed here at 5 on thursday evening, which i thought would give us plenty of time to make the 7.30 showing of
o at the bellagio. i thought wrong. we did make it, though, after checking in at the mgm signature. it is apparently the second most highly rated hotel on the strip, but it's kind of basic and a little pricey when i compare it to the trump (which i adored), so idk. we also had a bit of a scuffle over the booking when we first checked in, so we weren't in the best of moods, and to top it all off, o was very, very slow. i enjoyed it, especially the way they used the water and the stage, but compared to mystere, i was totally underwhelmed. my parents both fell asleep at one point or another, and so did i, lmao forever.
the second day we decided we'd rent a car, and then we headed to wynn for their buffet lunch. it was pretty decent fare, and i give the risotto an a++++. the dessert spread gets an a- for being amazingly varied, but only mediocre in quality. WE ALSO SAW THE FERRARI SHOWROOM THERE. the receptionist was awesome enough to just take my dad for his word about being a ferrari/maserati owner, so we got in for free, which was doubly awesome. then we stopped by the titanic exhibition, and even though it was my second time seeing it, it was just as awesome, especially getting to see how much my family (sans my mother, surprise, surprise) enjoyed it. then it was rushing back to the hotel to get ready for our viewing of
le reve. i had no idea what to expect from the show, but we had AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING MINDBLOWING SEATS, and it turned out to be better than o, so that was a bonus. the staging was immaculate, and there were two gymnast dudes who BLEW. MY MIND. i have never seen anything done like what they did that night, oh man. it did get a little sleepy at times, and my dad took a couple of naps, but i didn't, so score!
we dragged ourselves to the venetian straight after to catch the
blue man group. i saw them in chicago on my own and i knew my family would love it, AND THEY DID. the second half of the show was 90% new material, and the interactive portions with the audience member was AWESOME because the chick they chose this time was AMAZING, so i had a blast! definitely my favourite show we saw here. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
i was so exhausted after that, though, that i announced that i didn't care what everyone else was doing, i was spending the next day curled up in bed, catching up on sleep. so this morning my sister and my mom went to the outlet mall, and i stayed inside with my brother. i didn't get out of bed till close to 1, and i felt aaaaaaawesome. but THEN my dad bursts into the room with my other brother in tow, all excited about the shooting range he found nearby. and he's all, COME ON WE'RE GOING. which--hi, I AM NOT TURNING DOWN THE CHANCE TO FIRE A REAL LIVE GUN OH MY GOSH. so we go. and KSDAIHDFOKLANSDIFD OH MY GODDDDDDDDDD. MOST FUNNEST THING TO DO EVER EVER EVER EVERRRRRRRRR. IT WAS SO FUN I EVEN HAVE
PICTURES TO SHARE. AND WE ALL KNOW HOW OFTEN THAT HAPPENS.
THAT RIFLE I AM HOLDING? IT IS AN M6A1 AND IT IS REAL. AND I GOT TO SHOOT IT. AND IT WAS AWESOME. ♥_________♥ i thought i was going to knock a tooth out or start shooting the ceiling or something, the recoil was so hard for me to handle. THE GLOCK 34 ON THE OTHER HAND--i am still glowing with secondhand pride, i think. my dad was all praise for me, and I REALLY DID LOVE IT. loading the bullets in the magazine was the MOST AMAZING THRILL. and actually shooting? and putting my finger on that trigger? LEARNING HOW TO POSITION AND AIM AND BREATHE RIGHT ALSJNASOIFKLGISOF. can anyone say aphrodisiac? holy shit. WE NEED RIFLE RANGES IN SINGAPORE, IS WHAT WE NEED.
it was hilarious because we all turned out to be huge gun junkies. well, mostly me and the older brother, BUT STILL. we started off loaning just one glock and one box of ammo (50 bullets), and my dad had to go in to loan another gun and two extra boxes of ammo just to keep up with us. (it helped that he's a huge gun junkie too, ha.) THEN he was all, "you guys wanna try the rifles?" and i was all ......UM HELLO WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT YES LET'S GO RIGHT NOW. so we did. one automatic m6a1 rifle, five cartridges of bullets, and i got to empty two of them. TWO. THAT'S FORTY BULLETS. and it probably took all of 30 seconds. BEST 30 SECONDS OF MY LIFE AKNEIFESKFIGRLBMFd.
i am still beaming just thinking about it. of course, when we went to take a look at the store afterwards, i also left screaming like the little girl i am because there were men handling the actual guns in the store. um, that does not make me feel safe AT ALL, i am js.
anyway, then we picked my mom and sister from the outlet mall, and came back to catch
ka, and aiusdkshfij THAT WAS AWESOME TOO. definitely my favourite cirque show i've seen. storylines always help with that though, lmao. i guess that's just the kind of person i am. my parents enjoyed it too; my dad was raving about it, after, and no one fell asleep that time for sure! my brother, sister and i rushed off to catch the jabbawockeez'
mus.i.c right after that, and that was a completely different thing. i expected to be underwhelmed, maybe even bored, because i wasn't sure how entertaining an hour and a half of the same dance crew would be, but they managed to keep the energy levels mostly high throughout, and i had a lot of fun! it's my middle-ranked show, right after blue man and ka. my parents waited around for us outside the ka theatre at the wolfgang puck restaurant, so we got to have an awesome dinner (of mostly starters :D) after the show, and all any of us could talk about was how awesome vegas had been, and how amazing all the shows were, and how much fun the rifle range/outlet mall shopping had been, so the night ended on a definite high. we even managed to all walk away from the dinner table without crying, which--if you know us, that is a HUGE deal. we are the asian version of the walkers.
and now we get to look forward to san fran! :D which will hopefully be just as fun, but a little less rushed. i am excite.
