...only, because i suck, not for mtyg. i caved and ended up reading yuletide instead, which i totally WOULD NOT HAVE if not for astolat's post about NEW COOKLETA. and then things kind of snowballed from there, um. also i am kind of in love with the fact that yuletide stories are rarely over, like, 5000 words. it's like amouse bouche awesomeness!
and now for the multifandom recs!
crush. american idol; cookleta. i'm very particular about the type of archie and the type of cook that i read, and this doesn't entirely fit in with that, mostly because archie's supposed to be getting all sexed up and stuff, but there are some awesome one-liners in there, and everyone deserves a little cookleta at christmas!
before you understand. little miss sunshine; gen. i'm developing a taste for fic that skips the romance, and this will probably always be one of my favourite movies ever, so the fact that this story has such an awesome olive!voice, and works out the dynamics of the whole family so well without ever having to actually spell anything out, completely reeled me in.
someone you love. love, actually; sarah/karl. the sarah voice here is spot-on, and i love, love love harry's cameos and his straight-shooting matchmaking. i love how it's all about learning how to keep the balance, and how nothing ever falls into place without work. and karl is totally hot, which doesn't hurt.
waiting. himym; robin/barney. i love barney. i love when people are able to pin barney's voice. i love when robin and barney hook up, or are on the cusp of it, without ever getting sappy and googly about it (because ha, are they EVER?) and this story is just, mmmm, yes. this is how it could happen, or the beginning of how it could happen, and i love that.
laying in. shelter; shaun/zack. seriously, i am so in love with this fandom, and there are so few places you can find decent fic that i was thrilled to see four brand spanking new ones today. this is absolutely my favourite, though. it's all about growing as a person, and as a family, and i love the dynamics pinned down here, i love zack's voice, i love the original characters, and i adore cody. so much, idek what to do with myself. the little art pieces that interspersed the story were such a great touch, too. this was tender and hopeful and even a little sad, and it felt like something that could've come straight out of the movie.
a quick bonus mention must go to bodies in motion, too, because there can never be enough shaun/zack in the world, and this line is going to stay with me for a long, long time: when zach shifts to sit on the edge of the bed, shaun looks up, and it's in over cody's quietening sniffles that zach gets the chance to say, "i do know, okay? he's not just mine."
anyway, i'm totally going to get back to reading sesa after i get back from lunch! i'm left with mostly trickc, and it all looks very, very long and epically fantastic. yay!
