so apparently exams make me want to spam my lj.
exams and david archuleta.
i am calmer now, and can give you semi-coherent thoughts on his album.
things i loved: it's sort of everything i expected. so while it's not something i'm doing waltzes on rooftops over, and it's probably not something i'm going to listen to very much (or any much more than i've been listening to the boys, really), it's a perfectly, wonderfully david album. it's unapologetically cheesy, and poppy, and all that good, clean, marketable, fun-teen stuff. except not crap like miley cyrus. so GO YOU, DAVID. plus, i didn't skip over any of the songs! NOT ONE. that hasn't happened in a while, not even for unbreakable! also, in a strange way? you can totally hear how jc would fit on this album, like, right off the bat. it is AWESOME. and david still has one of the best voices in a three hundred thousand mile radius (does that cover the whole world?), because yes.
song-wise, you can is my favouritest thing off the album. simple and wonderful and perfect and it made me wish that jcas was the one on the guitar. heh. also, david sounds marvellous. who needs all that additional stuff!? pure awesome is the way to go! in the same vein, i really liked to be with you. it's not that i don't love his up-tempo stuff, he just sounds so good on the quiet tracks. sadly, i kind of thought don't let go was a little disappointing, and i'd really rather have heard you ruined it on the album, but still! it's totally a jc song, AND HE STARS ON THE PIANO! AND BACKGROUND VOCALS!!!!11 oh, bb, how i have missed you. it was almost as thrilling as listening to jensen on crazy love.
also note-worthy is your eyes don't lie, which gave me a strangely billie-jean-ish vibe riht off the bat. mmmmmmm. plus, country-style and confident, assertive archie!lyrics! ♥ ♥ ♥ also, the whistling killed me every single time! my hands was aaaaaaaaaaaaaawesome, too, and a little too not over you! DAVID, BB, MAKE THEM USE MORE OF YOUR MATERIAL NEXT TIME.
things i did not love: .....um. yeah.
songs that will take a second listen: barriers (sorry kim!). running - which i don't even think is the song's fault, really, i just have this thing against songs about sports, idk. desperate. angels - i don't know. it's definitely not that i don't like what david did with it, because OMG RUNS!!!!!!!!111 mmmmmmmmmm. he sounds so ridiculously amazing, and just, yes. nails every freaking note, even! but i'm just a little eh about the song choice overall. it was a little off when taken in context with all the other stuff. still, i'm sure i'll fall in love with all these songs once i've heard them a couple times more!
