as far as concerts go, this fucking blew my world
first off, i'd like to give shoutouts to everyone in sg_bsb. you guys are the greatest! m_i_a_s_m_a, i know we say we don't have a leader, but you're the closest thing to one we have. mersey04 and gal1015, you are the most dedicated fans i know! ckath, jamie, angie, firah, starafar, kaostic, kelly, liza1131, cals82, xinyi, viggorlijah (i'm so sorry i hardly spoke to you! i promise i'm not usually such a psychopath): the experience would not have been the same without you!
let's start this chronologically. (as a warning, i must say that i've realized a lot of my sentences start with brian, nick or aj. *g*)
so we started out at the airport. a huge, huge, pretty banner that my sister made got us tons of media attention and a wave from the boys. we knew the boys were going to be at a little reception thing so we went like two hours early to the viewing mall and looked down at the mtv twins smooch the boys silly (dammit) and screaming our hearts out banging away at the glass. before the boys left the area we were already running for the arrival hall and waiting at the belts. we must have looked like psychos because there were a lot of people laughing and pointing. ah, well. singaporean mentality for you. we managed to catch a glimpse of the boys before they drove off, but only a glimpse. i think kat almost got herself knocked down trying to film them. *snerk*
then a few of us piled into angie's car and started chasing the boys. we already knew they were booked into the hyatt, and had booked ourselves a room for a night already. sadly, we missed them by about ten minutes. still, liza and jamie got to say hi to nick! and jo got to shake howie's pinkie! plus kevin smiled and waved and said hi, and when vanessa called us to tell us that, angie nearly swerved! heh. the things kevin does to people. anyhow, about twenty of us chipped in to pay for the hotel, but only about half of that stayed the night. main highlight for me, though: I SAW AJ!!!!!!!!!!!!11111 I FUCKING FROZE BUT I SAW AJ AND HE WAS LESS THAN A METRE AWAY FROM ME!!!!!!!!11111 i maintain that for the first two days, i was one of the few people who saw aj at all. aj left first for dinner (he's so TINY i didn't even notice he was behind me till my sister pointed him out!), and came back early about an hour after he left--although none in sg_bsb can verify this because none of us saw him come back. sneaky fella. for most of us who stayed, though, we got to see kevin and howie come back from a business dinner -- or what we assumed was one. more likely a date (so says my sister). kevin has eyes that suck you in, like cal said: evil overlord. he is also exceedingly gorgeous. unfortunately, howie does nothing for me. except make me think of a very happy chipmunk. you'll probably be able to tell in my footage. i have some of everyone (mostly aj and nick) but practically nada of howie.
brian and nick didn't come down that night, though a few of us spent about forty minutes hanging around looking at the expressions on the faces of the hotel security trying to figure out how long it would take for them to join the rest for dinner. oh, also, kevin spoke to kimmie before he left, telling her he'd definitely be back for pictures and suck and i think she nearly fainted. not to mention, kelly was dumbstruck outside his van and watched him drive off with the most pathetic look on her face (or so she says) without even being able to pull out her camera for a decent shot. still, he kept his promise and so did howie, and they were pretty nice, albeit brief, about it. howie's a dork, though: someone thrust a notebook at him, and at the same time someone else was asking for a quick picture. so he was all, "oh, i've learnt how to do both really quickly." and then he LAUGHED AT HIMSELF. *falls over giggling* i couldn't stop staring. happy chipmunk! then kevin came in with his gorgeous, soul-sucking grey eyes and i wanted to keel over dead. didn't get to touch him or get an autograph or picture myself, but i could not be more content right now.
i had to go to school the next day though, unfortunately. we thought the boys were going to be at a cna interview, so i wasn't too worried about missing them. i was doing a project with a friend, and then vanessa texted me to say SHE'D SEEN BRIAN AND HOWIE IN THE HOTEL! HAVING BREAKFAST! i nearly had a heart attack. i debated for all of two seconds with my conscience, got approval from my project partner to leave, and made a mad dash for my school exit. i flagged a taxi on the way out of school, thank god, and managed to make the uncle believe that i was actually going to the hyatt HOTEL. i got there about ten minutes before the boys made their way out of the restaurant and i could not be more grateful. brian is god's gift to boybands. i say this without an ounce of sarcasm. he is the sweetest, most lovely man you will ever, ever meet. if i didn't love aj this much, if he hadn't appeared in front of me the night before, i would've converted.
howie's boyguard scared us all stiff by telling us "not now, girls", but brian! BRIAN! he took several pictures, gave away a hug or two, and I GOT MY FIRST AND ONLY GROUP PICTURE WITH A BACKSTREET BOY! brian even asked us to retake the group photo we took with him! 'cause vanessa moved the camera just as it flashed. his exact words: "you may wanna take that again." *dies!* still, nick fans worm their way into everything (and i say this with as much love in me as i can muster ;)) liza managed to take an individual picture with brian. and then asked the dreaded question: brian, is nick sick? and brian's face changed, very subtly, but still. but he was all, no he seemed fine to me. and when she said, "oh he looked a bit sick," brian was all, "i hope not." nick!fans. still, brian was in a very good mood, cooing over kelly's (very worn down) winnie the pooh shirt. and the two things i learnt about him are 1) he wins everyone over. easily. and 2) his smile made my entire. fucking. year. i have much love for this man. also, since we'd been speculating that nick had been sick, and thus not come down the previous night, and that brian had been "nursing" him back to health, when liza found out nick wasn't sick at all, that theory was dashed. so i came to the conclusion that nick's an ass who holed himself up in his hotel room from monday evening to tuesday afternoon. i'm all 'eh' about him now.
so after that bit of excitement, we were all in exceedingly good moods when we went back to our hotel room. we showered, packed, flashed some asian boobies (tm mano) and headed out for kallang indoor stadium. i was hoping to death for soundcheck passes at this point, because a minority of us hadn't won any, and we were hoping that our huge banner would make up for it. thankfully, it did. liza is the sweetest, bestest girl alive because when she found out she won TWO soundcheck passes, she asked me to go in with her! i could have kissed her! would have, too, if i hadn't thought she'd kill me if nick ever found out. ;) thanks, again, liza. i owe you. i really, really do. kelly and my sis ran around looking for marcus carrying the banner, though, and he's the nicest guy ever because THEY GOT IN!!!!! everyone did! it was the best surprise ever and almost ruined by the lamc bitch, so hopefully we never have to dealwith them again. i never, ever want to hear of them organizing another big name like this again. i hope they're ruined. still, i'm not letting that ruin my evening.
soundcheck was... boring. i was not in the least pumped. when the boys sang weird world, i was all 'oooh' for about the first ten seconds, and then my attention wandered. nick looked terrible: nick is hot in everything but hoodies (because in those, he just looks fat. plus, he needs hair to look good. seriously.) most of the questions were boring, too, even though brian livened things up and did his donald duck voice!! the questions liza wan and yana asked were incredible, though!!!!!!!!! which traits would you want baylee to inherit from each of the guys!? i was beaming from ear to ear! and then brian said that baylee got a lot of drama queen-ess from nick and aj. and aj added that baylee couldn't stop painting his nails black. and that from the conversations brian can have with baylee, baylee must have inherited kevin's wisdom. plus, baylee wants to build a hotel with howie. *giggles* then brian said nick had the mentality of a three year old, and nick flung a water bottle at him, which brian did not dodge (and if he did, it was unsuccessful.) i was all craning my neck to see where they were. for me, though, the highest point in soundcheck was when the boys sang 'just want you to know'! me and firah SCRAMBLED everywhere looking for the 'sphynkter' sign i made. and i was all WAVE IT WAVE IT!!!! when we found it! howie said thank you and aj made horns at the end of the song!!!!!!!!!! *DIESDIESDIES* OH AND WE GAVE THEM THEIR GIFT BAGS!
we made gift bags for each of the guys and decorated them, putting stuff inside like vibrating condoms for aj, studded ones for nick, and strawberry ones for howie (THANKS ADE! THANKS KAT! ;) sorry i embarrassed you!) and then telling aj have fun! people seemed to get a kick out of it, though, so that was fun. also, i have to type this up for kimmie, because she missed it: kevin and nick were giggling over something. more like nick was giggling and whispering something to kevin. and kevin mentioned that he'd seen nick on 8 simple rules just the night before, which amused me because the question was about how nick felt about kissing the girl. i would have taped it, but my battery died. and i couldn't pull my spares out of my socks because i was afraid they'd confiscate those when they checked my bag again for the actual concert and then WHAT WOULD I DO? so mano has most of that footage, hopefully! i did get a group photo with marcus, though. he was pretty much a big hit among us when he was walking around between the time soundcheck ended and the actual concert. OH OH OH AJ SAID HE WOULDN'T MIND LIVING IN SINGAPORE JM ARE YOU READING THIS?!
during the time before the concert, we were interviewed (a second time) by mtv. and cody or whatever the hell his name is was interviewing us and being annoying and saying he was bsb's number one fan. it's airing on mtv asia on the 6th of february or something, so if you wanna get a feel of what the atmosphere was like, the cameras aren't exactly lying. the food we ordered from mcdonalds at that point took an hour to get there though, so by the time our food actually arrived we had five to ten minutes to wolf it down and get inside. the GOOD part was that we didn't wait long after we'd gotten in for the concert to start.
being in vip does have its perks, though. i thought i'd have to hide my video camera really really well, but all they said when they saw my digital camera was 'no flash photography okay?' i was all, uhhh, sure (ha, riiiiiight). and then they let me in! unfortunately, keith spotted me with the cam like three minutes into the concert so i had to keep it for fear he'd kill me. because the concert's pretty much a big, big blur for me, though, i'm doing this is point form. i have plenty of footage, but some of that's with kat and some's with mano, so it should all be up very soon. i have plenty of videos and a couple of gorgeous photos (I LOVE THAT CAMERA!!!!) there was plenty of also camera drama happening though; mano's battery running out, my memory card running out of space etc etc. but i'd really rather not get into that. (oh and if i sound excited at inopportune moments, it's because i left myself completely unspoiled for the concert and had no idea what was happening and when.)

LOVED it. i think i fed off of the crowd energy a lot more than i did from the boys'.
-the fact that my throat is actually raw is bothering me. i don't usually lose my voice, no matter what i do.
-there was a group of horrible people who rushed up to the barricades out of nowhere and started holding signs up and blocking everybody's view.
-we got the i still sheet up to brian! and liza wan started sobbing! *hugs her*
-aj didn't see our 'lightbulb sign'. what a waste. if he did he made no indication.
-nick was suddenly gorgeous again. what a difference an hour and some hair makes.

-nick tried to get us to sing teen spirit! i did not know words, though. so i had to fake 'em.
