Of tourneys and the feminine art of "Get lost, loser!"

Happy early birthday to my dad! We celebrated a day early because he and Mom are going on vacation tomorrow. Dave, I am sure, will be bathing in the quiet. Or attempting to. Don't actually have too much to say in response to the "get lost loser" section, though I'm definitely more the direct but polite "No thank you" type.

I didn't have an interesting conversation today about men though. I was eating sushi out with Mara (another CUPA student), and she started talking about how she doesn't like to date "the nice guys." She prefers the guys who are more aggressive, more sassy, and more exciting, even though sometimes they do turn out to be jerks. I was very strongly reminded of Andy's women-can-be-such-a-pain-in-the-ass-to-try-and-date rants. :-) She also talked about how she can't imagine having a relationship with a guy in which no fighting is involved, and she wouldn't want a relationship like that anyway. Not that she really thinks the fighting is *good*, but she said she needs to able to express herself no-holds-barred and she wants the guy to be the same way--so naturally, that'll lead to fights sometimes. And I explained to her more my style of dating and the kind of bf's I've had, which were pretty much the opposite. Very calm relationships--with tension sometimes of course--but no fights, both of us being tactful with each other. So we discussed the pros and cons of each kind of relationship a bit. It was pretty interesting. I can tell you more about it later if you like.

I'd definitely like to hear more about it. My own preferences are a little of A and a little of B. Next time we chat we should talk about this some more.
