I just learned, totally at random, that there’s an audit next week. Woo! It’s in an area that shouldn’t affect me at all but still, a little warning? Everyone dances on eggshells when auditors are around.
I also heard whispers of audits in May. I hope not ‘cause I wanted to try to pick up Catherine in May. But if there are audits that my department is involved in I doubt I’ll be able to get enough consecutive days off to do it. I can swing half a day easily or a full day sometimes if it’s a Friday (auditors don’t like to stick around on Fridays) but it takes more than three days (Fri-Sun) to get to Florida and back. Keep your fingers crossed, Catherine!
I read this in _The Last Unicorn_ today and it made me laugh. It is a song a blue jay sings to her chicks:
Spiders and sowbugs and beetles and crickets,
Slugs from roses and ticks from thickets,
Grasshoppers, snails, and a quail’s egg or two-
All to be regurgitated for you.
Lullaby, lullaby, swindles and schemes,
Flying’s not near as much fun as it seems.
Other than the surprise news about the audit I felt good today for some reason. Anxious too, though, so that theoretically doesn’t work. Oh well. What have you.
When Dave came home from work today and said to me, “I was in a meeting and I found one of your hairs on my shirt.”
He was pestering me yesterday so that’s not surprising. I laughed and said, “Did you pull a hair of supreme length from your shoulder and think ‘That’s not mine.’”
“Yes,” he said. “And then I found more! I spent five minutes getting your hair off me.”
“See?” I said to him lovingly. “It means I’m always with you. Small and obnoxious!”
Big brothers pester, little sisters are obnoxious. The more things change the more they stay the same.
I got into looking through all my photos from Scotland tonight. I think I’m finally going to print the lot of them off. I’ll sift a bit, first, but I’m going to print as many as I can. Most of them aren’t that good, just reminders of where I was, but I’m rather fond of some. Which I think I’ve said before.
I already sifted through the first two discs but it’s the third that is going to be the most difficult. That’s the one with all my backpacking photos. Too many pretty places!
Anyway, among these were pictures from my trip to Reading to see Ben and Nikki. I really miss those two. They are such wonderful friends and were such wonderful hosts. They took me to several great local sites perfect for my medieval tastes.. It’s too much of a shame that they are all the way over there and I’m all the way over here. I miss them!
Still no news (yeah, I might write this every day until I here something).
Cheers
