Summary: (mine) An Avon character study vid created in 1990.

Review: Love comes at the speed of light/ Love comes at the speed of light/ Love comes in a strange disguise/ Love comes
Open the door and let the light pour over/ Open the door don't you keep me out

I suspect we're getting toward the end of the window of opportunity to enjoy the earlier fanvids, given how video quality now zooms so far past previous works and we increasingly take for granted having better quality footage. I wanted to recommend an old Angel the Series vid a few months back, and when I rewatched it, I came to the conclusion that the quality was no longer of viable quality to post it as a rec. It's a shame to think of old fannish masterpieces fading away for new audiences, so we should probably make the most of them while we can.

This vid, which I hadn't seen before, and stumbled over the other week, still looks pretty good considering it was vidded VCR-to-VCR in 1990, and you get to catch up on some fannish history (from the link provided) in the bargain.

Despite the central lyric, the vid is a gen study of Avon's fracturing psyche and his relationships with others, and with the rest of the Liberator crew, in good times and bad. The faster and ever more frenetic cuts and disjointed nature, and the clanging background of the (fantastic) song choice illustrate the downspiral toward the end, and given the speed of the cuts it's incredible to think that this was made on a VCR. There's plenty of analysis (and vidder commentary) on the fanlore page, so I'll leave you there.

The song is Continental Drift by The Rolling Stones.
