This fic is a short Supernatural-style AU, with Umino Iruka as a hunter and single parent of Naruto.
Host and Hound captures one of the most relateable aspects of Supernatural - the endless desperation of surviving on uncertain income with no support in a wide empty world delimited by rest-stops and motels between the monsters. As the Naruto world is oddly lacking in stupidity caused by tiredness and desperation, seeing Iruka in such straits is oddly compelling and Naruto's cheerful optimism is a nice contrast.
