Review: I'm the kind of girl that tears up when I fall in love with a story. I cry at the happy parts and smile at the sad ones (I'm not insane, I swear. I just like the main characters suffering for a couple of scenes. :)).
I was searching for a fic to rec for Super!Epic Week, you won't believe how hard it was to find an epic-length fic! But when I finally the one that made me smile, whew! It flew waaay over the 100K word count mark! I read this fic, a long, long time ago. And I went crazy over it for a week or so, I hope you'll love it just as much I did.
We all love star-crossed lovers, and there's no couple more star-crossed than Zuko and Katara (or Zutara, as we call our OTP). Fire and water, prince and peasant. While most Zutara fics are about a conflict and then do Zuko and Katara realize their feelings for each other. This fic takes on a different take, Zuko and Katara are in love with each other. And the conflict is the fact that they love each other, in the tumultuous period of rebuilding after the war. There's no room for Zuko and Katara as a couple, Katara knows this. This is why, despite falling deeper and deeper in love with the Fire Lord and him loving her back, she steps down and decides to disappear into the shadows. She pushes him towards Mai.
