Review: First off, if you are still waiting to read the Hunger Games and don't want to be spoiled; do not read this series! If you're getting into the fandom without reading the Hunger Games trilogy or you have already finished the trilogy and are looking for more stories from Panem then this is a great series to try.
This is an open AU that started with a series of stories by Mithrigil and has been continued by various authors. It is made up of origin story for a large number of Adult characters that appear in the books. As well as a number of stories based in and around the 74th & 75th Hunger Games. It gives a deeper look into the lives of everyone from Haymitch to Cina, to the victors you only meet in the second book, This story adds a lot of depth to the events that take place in the trilogy. Just be warned that this is a really dark series. So if you're easily squicked, I suggest reading with extreme caution.
