After the events in Serenity, Wash is brought back by the Alliance in the hopes they can gain information about River. Wash eventually escapes and makes his way back to the Serenity. Needless to say, the crew is less than convinced he's the real deal and is highly distrustful.
The story is Wash-centric and written in his pov. Even though it can be a bit dark at times it still ends on a happy note. Van does a brilliant job on characterization and has a way of writing that pulls you in no matter how odd the pairing sounds. One thing I really love about this fic is, unlike so many firefly fics, River's 'ramblings' have meaning and isn't just a bunch of nonsense strung together.
