I really like Starfish's AUs, and I like this one especially because it is so darn plausible. What if TPTB did something sensible and replaced Ray Vecchio with someone who actually looked like him? What if Ray Kowalski actually listened to his parents and his wife and didn't choose to become a cop? Put those two together and you have Can't Stop Falling. The new Ray in this version is a jerk and so Fraser is feeling lost and lonely as he wanders into Ray K's garage to get his truck looked at (on Walsh's recommendation). The main characters do fall in love awfully fast, but other than that this story is perfect: Fraser and Ray's banter is spot on and the story is full of deliciously angsty miscommunications that is the bread and butter of addictive fanfic. Plus, you have a mystery plot that is both layered and entertaining, which you don't see very often, especially in DS fic. Enjoy!
