Dead Lover by Author (R)

Well, this is my last rec as a full-time reccer, at least for the next while as RL gets unbearably hectic. Hopefully I'll be able to post a guest rec once ever so often, but I still feel strange to leave ER because it's been my biggest fandom "thing" for the last couple of years and it's where I meet like-minded readers. I know ER hasn't done much regarding the results of the last reader survey, but please don't give up on us; we've been dealing with some major administrative changes and readers' suggestions will be tested/implemented in the near future.

And now without further delay, a fic from my favourite genre: ZOMBIES!!!

Title: Dead Lover
Fandom: The IT Crowd
Pairing: Richard Ayoade/Chris O'Dowd
Categories: action/adventure, hurt/comfort, supernatural
Length: long (~24,000)
Warnings: violence, gore, character death (not the main pairing), zombies!

Author on LJ: darkplace606
Website: n/a

Author's Summary: Eight British survivors of Europe's deadly zombie virus Decay attempt a cross country journey through America in an attempt to reach zombie-free California. Rural America, however, isn't very safe.

Review:
I was completely freaked out by this story. If you’ve been reading this comm for awhile, you understand the severity of this statement. If you are new here, well, consider this a serious warning.

While I wouldn’t say the main plot of Dead Lover was exceptionally original, the emotions of individual characters as well as their interactions with each other were very well played out. The whole “Dead Lover” aspect of the zombie disease also added much creepiness. Thank goodness for the happy ending, although it only comes after many deaths.

One of my favourite zombie fics -- thank you, lovelyhera, for rec’ing this for my birthday! Highly recommended!
