Tropisms

While covering sporting events in Cascade, Casey and Dan run into Jim and Blair, respectively. Musical beds ensues.

That's my biggest pet peeve in fandom, fic that are thinly veiled apologia for their favorite character so that he (somehow it's always 'he') gets to behave like a little shit while always being in the right. Argh.

What gets me is that usually such fics are easily weeded out due to poor characterization or writing. This one is written by someone who is a solid, respectable author. Very frustrating.

Yeah, one of the most-rec'd SGA stories is like this. It's very frustrating, because I keep forgetting the name, so every time it crops up on someone's rec list I'm like 'ooh, a story I'm unfamiliar with!' but then it's the same crappy story I'm trying to avoid. :(
