I'd say I had a pretty good weekend.
Friday, right after class, I decided to get a haircut. I got about 5 inches cut off! I enjoy long hair, but at the same time, my hair is so thick and insane and hard to deal with when it's so long, so I just decided it was time. I haven't gotten a significant hair cut in about two years. Previously my hair looked like
this .
Later that night we went to Astoria (in Queens), which takes about an hour to get to by subway. Why would I go all the way to Astoria? Well, in order to meet up with Maura's sister Caitlin and go to the Beer Garden. Actually it's called Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden. The inside of the place is this bar/restaurant/Czech cultural center. Outside is this big beer garden (hence the name), which is the only remaining beer garden in NYC. They have a grill and a bar where you can get pitchers of stuff like Pilsner-Urquell, which I normally don't find in the bars I frequent. It's a really great atmosphere and a lot of fun. I definitely recommend it.
Saturday night, Christine and I headed down to Lincoln Square and met up with a different Maura who we haven't seen in a while. We decided to go see Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist. I really enjoyed it. I like Michael Cera in it, even if he does play the same character every time. I figure I will always love him just for his role in Arrested Development. Hee! I enjoyed the soundtrack as well.
Also, the Giants won this weekend and are now 4-0. Yay!
Of course, more importantly, MY FAVORITE SEASON STARTED THIS WEEKEND. Well, sort of. Four teams were playing in Europe. For whatever reason, my boys the New York Rangers were in Prague to play their first two games of the season! This was very exciting to me. Actually, Beer Garden hosted a big viewing party Saturday afternoon I guess to show off some Czech pride. I totally should have attended. Anyway, the Rangers beat the Lightning TWICE. And it was great.
And now they have MORE POINTS THAN ANYONE IN THE NHL!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, so only 4 teams actually played this weekend, but whatever, it's still true. Next they have their home opener on Friday. I'm so excited for this season!
