Mostly Olympics

So my vacation was...kinda lame. The beach wasn't too bad though. However, my sister was in a bad mood because her softball team lost their tournament, and she injured her foot/has a huge scrape on her leg/has the largest bruise of all time on her thigh and just wanted to go home. My dad was in a particularly horrible mood because of the aforementioned softball team and due to the fact that Saturday was his birthday, and he is always in a terrible mood around that time.

This actually worked out well, because no one wanted to do very much and I ended up getting to watch 3452345 hours of the OLYMPICS! I love it. The Olympics get me all excited. I am crazy and look forward to this for four years and I will watch anything they show, which means I watch basketball (which I don't even like watching on tv), weightlifting (which freaks me out), handball (because when else can I see that?) and basically everything else. I always look forward to Bob Costas narrating the various life stories of various Olympians, even though those stories usually involve totally depressing events. I love the slow motion montages set to dramatic, uplifting music. I like when they interview athletes immediately following the event, and the athlete cannot even breathe, and they get asked the same questions as if Michael Phelps will say, "You know what Andrea? This whole experience sucks. I'm tired, and winning gold medals has lost its luster."

I love watching gymnastics, even though it gets me so nervous. Mostly while watching the girls on the balance beam. I get so scared every time they do anything that they will fall and crack their head on the beam. Then I'm sad because I lack any kind of flexibility, gracefulness, or balance. It's sad really. The men's competition was fantastic and the US men made me proud to be an American with their bronze medal.

And of course I have been watching swimming.  Or, "OMG SWIMMING IS ON EVERYONE STOP SPEAKING THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!" which is what I've been calling it. I have been insane about the Olympics probably since 1996 (or '94 actually, but that was winter), and I tend to lose my mind in regards to swimming in particular. I'm not sure why, as I can barely swim, but I love watching it. I yell at the tv and everything. Michael Phelps also makes me proud to be an American. I think my patriotism went way up when the US beat France in that relay. Wonderful. I can't get over just how great he is. Oh, and he eats 8,000-10,000 calories a day which blows my mind. I was cracking up during that piece about what he eats at various restaurants.

Personally, I'd rather skip work and just watch the Olympics, but then again I am currently looking for more excuses not to work.

things i am a fan of, olympics, the most ultimate badass things of all
