A pastors words made me cringe

I'm finding that I'm writing more lately in this journal than I am in my xanga. Mainly because I feel more open here and I can say what I want. Only two people read it and I know those two people aren't going to judge me for my rants. And plus, some of the other people who read (with an exception of one) talk too much and ...well anyways, on with the entry.

I attended a wedding this past weekend. Lovely, really. But the pastor's little ramblings bothered me (and Brittney picked up on this as well).

a) God made marriage... god keeps couples together...: ok, I'm not religious (Lindz can attest to that right now). I'm not antichrist by any means, just feel I need to search and do the proper research to find the right "God" or religion for me. But in MY way of thinking (and in legal jargin) MARRIAGE is a legal term... creating a legal and binding entity. Love is created between two people ( by God if you will), but marriage is a legality tying two together.

b) God made woman to walk my man (to be someone to be his heart and for him to protect)... hmm hello!!?@?@ call me a feminist, but you also had to be there to hear the exact words and the whole spill, but I mean really. You're just gonna have to walk by your hubby, that's all. That's what you were put here for. Not to walk beside eachother, but he will take care of you. Basically, we can't take care of ourselves and the man will lead. OMG!! That turned me off from a lot of things. But I know not to let it. He was a young pastor is what shocked me the most.

There was something else that got to Brittney but for the life of me, I can't remember what it is!! But, those comments just bothered me. And I've noticed, the older I get or rather, the more knoledge I let in, the more aware I am and more "feminist" I've become. I'm not all women are better than men, but the term equality in this case is still overlooked and in need of attention. That along with all the other inequalities in this world! Damn, there's too much!
