greatest indulgence

I've been putting this off for a really long time...

ok so i went to this thing...back in november. and i kept putting it off because there are many, many pictures and i am a lazy, lazy person. :Va

ok first off, i have this thing called a problem with the sign. WHO DESIGNED IT? It looks blatantly terrible. Why is that ice cream cone balancing on that biscotti thing? Why is there chunks of chocolate on the left and then another one down up front? )o) Why have you done thissss.

ahem. alright, this is going to be very flash dash because that's how i toured this place-- the rest of the group paired off or clustered in a group while i darted around like some angry bee trying to buy christmas presents, lol. this was at the front door with a HUGE crowd clustering around for samples, so i don't rly know what their main product was. it smelled awesome though.

right next to it was a mediterrian/middle eastern spread. at first they were giving out minimal samples, but i went back and they were just giving them away. it was a little too sticky and sweet for me, but the nuts in there were awesome. *A*

OMNF NOMH NOMH.

i was trying to find the spiciest chocolate i could for a friend, which lead me here. WASN'T SPICY ENOUGH. o999 but their peppermint chocolate was decadent, but waaay too expensive. i had a miserable time walking away.

CHOCO DRAGON. I heard that they simply used the cheapest chocolate slab possible to make the sculpture because lolol it's nonedible. the guy's been touching it all day, so...

i actually bought a lot of stuff from this booth: ginger, apple, and orange chocolates. they also had a huge array of gorgeous colored shelled chocolates:

and some flower petal chocolate. in another booth, i picked up some flower-flavored chocolate. one word: AWESOME.

my absolute weakness? chocolate covered pretzels. you guys. it was embarrassing how many times i came back to this booth and snacked on yet another sample. it's not even that good of chocolate, compared to the other booths, but sprinkle salt on the chocolate, and i'm sold. right next to this booth was some awful chocolate wine. i did swipe a cute cork keychain from them, so all was not lost.

the line for this was absolutely gigantic, half the reason why that area was totally swamped was because everyone was either waiting line or trying to penetrate through that human wall. a friend of mine swiped a drink even though she was underage and she said she was tipsy for the rest of the time there. given how tiny the samples were, yeesh.

choco nyc.

choco dress. right next to this was really awesome truffle. i tried to enjoy it, but after two hours of stuffing your face with chocolate without breakfast or lunch in your stomach was kind of painful.

science time: the best chocolate has the most rapid melting point at around 35-ish C, meaning that good chocolate is supposed to stay solid in your hands, but melt upon entering your mouth. how to get to that degree of goodness? mixing time, in which the chocolate has time to equally incorporate the other components such as milk and sugar so that it's evenly dispersed in the chocolate. so what's this is doing is mix mix mix to ensure higher quality of chocolate.

ok this was pretty cool. essentially, this was how people made chocolate drinks back during american colonial times. the big slab is where they sprinkle the cocoa beans and nibs, and grind them with a smaller slab. underneath the bigger slab is where they lit a fire, so the cocoa bean will melt and then drain into the bowl.

then they combine it with a bunch of spices. so it was a crazy fantastic mix of salty sweet and spicy. a real highlight was the orange peel. soooo good.

after that i met up with a couple of people and went out to get lunch. this burger? amazing.

i'm drooling just thinking about it. aaaah. and after i got home about another 4 hours later, i was in some weird absolute state of ectasy. i'm PRETTY sure it was the copious amounts of chocolate talking, but i was just sitting in my room, rocking back and forth just LOVING EVERYTHING. loved life, loved the world, loved everyone. you have no idea what happiness is until you've ingested at least 2 pounds of chocolate. just-- that day was pretty crazy. there was so many more booths and sights and things but i was too busy eating and half of the pictures i took were really blurry because multi-tasking is not my thing. /does the sorry dance
