i wonder just how karma is going to work on this one...?
Al "inconvenient truth" Gore is planning to announce a concert event bigger than Live Aid/8, a multicity concert event whose purpose is to bring awareness and (somehow) simultaneous action towards environmental issues.
but damn, it sure was inconvenient when Tipper "PMRC" Gore decided to censor musicians back in the 80s.
now suddenly the Gores decided that they need music to further a good cause. or further Al Gore's cause. will musicians suck it up to Tipper and Al because, damnit it, the earth needs them! or will they tell them to go sod off (hey... at least they can give the Gores an environmentally friendly "fuck you")? or maybe Tipper will make amends to Two Live Crew and the Dead Kennedys and feature them as the concert's headliners?
i'm sure the musicians will bend over and take a large wad of cash in the ass, submit to a lyrics and performance approval committee (probably named something catchy like the Clean Aural Environment Caucus) and sell out all in the name of Mother Earth... or Democrats in 2008... or good publicity stunt/career move... or something.

how will they pull off the "action" part of the plan?:
make the musicians bicycle themselves and their equipment to each concert location? use solar powered amplifiers, sound boards and stage lighting? musicians "toughing it out" and not using air conditioning in their trailers during the horrendous July heat? all musicians will play acoustic sets and every concert attendee will be given a special biodegradable hearing horn? concert arenas with special exercycle seating - concert goers will have to pedal in order to power all the equipment and enjoy the show?
which reunited bands will play?: genesis? crosby stills nash and young? oasis? van halen? NSYNC? fleetwood mac? the police?
which special guests will turn up?: sir elton john? bono? tina turner? madonna? lionel ritchie? michael jackson? kenny loggins?
which "the" bands will play?: the fratellis? the killers? the twang? the bravery?
