I feed my plants caterpillars occasionally, in a sort of ironic justice. Eat my nasturtiums, well you? Well my plants will eat YOU. D:But yeah, I always feel bad because I do like caterpillars. I can't stand to kill anything- I still have troubles trying to slap mosquitos, I cringe when my father attacks flies. It makes no sense fo me to have ( Read more... )

I felt that "extreme gardening" was an apt description for the cultivation of carnivorous plants. After all, they do eat stuff. And you tend to wind up setting stuff on fire and spending a lot of time chasing insects in an attempt to make them happy. xD If I get lucky, I might eventually get to grow a sundew that can grow three or more feet tall. Small children, beware...
I haven't met many people who share similar views about the value of life with me. Mostly they can't understand why I'm like "NUUUU" when they kill a fly or a spider. Especially my dad. He still doesn't get it. xD
It's a bit difficult though. I freak out whenever I accidentally kill an insect, and then I freak out more when I harm one and then have to kill it so it doesn't suffer. x_x My one comfort is that insects can't feel pain.
When I was in America we used to get the ant problem too, always in the spring. They'd just somehow come into the house no matter what we did. They got in my toothbrush. -shudder- I doubt they'd be laying eggs in your cereal though, they only do that in their nests as far as I know. So don't worry so much about that. (:

"and then I freak out more when I harm one and then have to kill it so it doesn't suffer."
I do the exact same thing...

Oh god that's a relief, I can now eat my ant-ridden food without regrets... -___-
