What does one do when they've read a story and realize that it is incredibly similar to a story they've just written and it just so happens, that the similar sounding story was posted before?
This is the question I now have burning through my thoughts.
I just read a story that sounds similar to Dreaming of You. The funny thing is, I posted mine this weekend, while this story was posted on December 26th.
I am freaking out.
Not because I copied the story (because I actually started writing this back in novemeber and have someone who can verify that and I didn't read the fic until after the fact) but because I think people will think I actually did copy it.
There are of course very big differences to the story itself, but the main idea of "dreaming" is there, and it is a YooMin fic. Yoochun is the one dreaming, Junsu knows Changmin and in essences brings them together and Yoochun begins to have a sleeping problem. *cries*
I have not been accused of copying this story and perhaps I'm freaking out prematurely and being overly critical, but that's who I am. I worry. I worry all the time, about everything.
The thing I think really bothers me is that I don't read very much fan fiction. So to open up a page and read something that sounds like something you've written is really traumatizing.
I don't know what to do. Should I take down the story? Should I write the author and be like, hey, this sounds like my story but please believe I didn't copy it, but will that make me sound guilty? I don't know.
I feel sick.
