Now I figured out how everything works on LJ I feel happy. I look back at my previous posts with disdain at my sloppy effort... Ok, it is safe to that I am my own worst critic... But I must make a note to myself to stop using exclamationn marks so frequently!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Otherwise, I'll give people the impression that I'm some kind of screaming freak. Sometimes though, I feel hyper and then start using them... Umm, so anyway. I'm still on holidays It's been almost four months and the transition between High School to University is gut wrenching and nerve racking. The long time I've had off to pretty much sit and do nothing worsens everything. But who am I to complain, I suppose.
A bit about my Fandom
I can't wait for Gackt's new album it comes out around March...early March, I think . I would love to get some Gazette dvds as well while I'm at it... I mean the price of shipping fees are ridiculous so I might as well get other dvds too.
Mostly I'm a Gackt fan I suppose, even though I like a lot of different J-rockers and J-poppers. I really only started to like Gackt after I stumbled across a picture somewhere of his infamous first Takano Yuri photo shoot (the nekkid one XD) back in 2005. I was like OMFG that just looks like Cloud Strife. I had recently watched FF7 Advent Children and fell in love with it. I had really loved FF10-2 but I suck at playing games ( I don't have the paitence). I just loved the 3D movie bits in between, so you can imagine how happy I was to see Advent Children. I was like this is so cool! (I was fifteen, so everything to me was like OMG this is SOOO awsum!). But then I was bummed because Cloud is not a real person and then I saw Gackt.! Because I'm a pisces I can sometimes get a little obsessed with things easily (not speaking for all of them). At first my fandom was based on his looks untill I listened to Vanilla, Wasurenai kara and then Birdcage. I couldn't believe that his music could evoke so many different of emotions in me. Then I discovered what a weirdo he is and I was like 'wow! what an amazing individual'. My fandom for Gackt has wound down considerably over the years which makes me happy because I don't lfeel like such an Internet stalker anymore. I always felt bad acting that way for some reason, like I imagined that I would be the type of fan he would hastedly cross the street to avoid (nah I was't that bad). Nowdays I try to utilise his awesomeness to better my own life (such as always do my best, and Dont be afraid to be different) . I still like to poke fun at him and I like to talk to others who share my interests. (I think iI shall write more about the stages of fandom in the next post because I have a lot more to say about it)
From that point I began to discover the amazing world of Japanese Pop Culture. J-rock was at the centre of my attention then later i\I came to appreciate J-pop. I love Anime too but I can't understand the constant use of some of the overtly sexual female characters or the hidden motives for pedo's (lolicon stuff) and shovenists (gender roles), though a bit of Yaoi is always good LOL. It just makes me uncomfortable to be girl watching those types of Anime aimed at teenage boys. I also can't stand Gundam (I don't know why but I'm just not that into it)
J-rock is truly amazing. At first, I was like wtf! When I saw a picture of Gackt from his Malice Mizer period. My westernized brain couldn't compute what my eyes where seeing. It's so funny because now when I see a pictures of Mana or Uruha I'm like 'aww Isn't he adorable ^-^ or that dress is so kawaii!' The first time I saw Kyo I was scared a little but now think of him as an adorable carniverous screaming little migit. It's funny how far away Jrock is from the groups I used to love when I was a kid like the Spice Girls or 5ive or some other sweet as sugar band. Though I do still like bubble gum music very much. Like Morning Musume and Aya Matsuura. The amazing world of Japanese culture was like a breath of fresh air for me because I was sick and tired of the stale songs, movies and stuck up or drunken celebrities.
It seems like Japanese celebs work a whole lot harder and still maintain a more admirable social image. They are more interesting or maybe just strange and some of their western counterparts have a diva syndrome type attitude. Not all of course but I was specifically thinking of J.LO or some other diva and I couldn't help but think 'but your music sucks! so why do you have to act like that?' Don't get me wrong the are a lot of good actors and singers out there and movies too and I listen to a lot of pop, rock and hip hop music too as well as watching a lot of hollywood movies. But the fact is that we as a society celebrate stupid talentless bimbos (eg. Britney Spears, Paris Hilton) It makes me nauseas and jealous because I would kill to be just given the opportunity be an actress and they are so whiney and crap. Grrr... Ok enough of that now... *exhale*back to happy ^-^. Well there is one thing I know for sure and that is that wherever my life takes me I want to strive to be the best I can be and be a hard working ,individual, good at something and humble like my favourite Japanese celebs.
