Thoughts are
So the good news is that I didn't go into labor during the finale. I was worried I would and miss the whole thing:)
I'll just get the bad over with first, okay? Indulge me - at least Lisa lived, albeit sans memory (and wtf, are all our heroes going to delve into the moral gray area?) but every single other "woman" died - although as
lapillus pointed out, they weren't really women. The bartender was Sam's subconscious, Ellie was Cthuthlu, and Raphael was technically genderless. And why did they make Lisa's boyfriend black and then kill him off? Were they low on the quota of black characters to kill off this season?
Okay, back to the commentary -
Thought more could've been done with the Lovecraft stuff. I did go hunt down how he died, because that had me curious. I was kinda disappointed with that, alas. Although Ellie WAS cool. Would have liked to see her stick around.
I really liked the mindscape and Sam putting the pieces of himself back together. Although they missed an opportunity for two Sams to hug:) I eagerly await the Sam/Sam/Sam dub con blood play fic, though.
At first I felt sorry for Cas - his own actions left him all alone at the end. However, once it was revealed that he actually went through with the Purgatory thing on his own, that vanished. Cas as we know him is gone. But he'll make an intriguing bad guy.
My favorite line was Crowley's "Have you forgotten you're the bottom in this relationship?" which I'm certain will launch a million Crowley/Cas fic...
I felt bad for Dean at the end of the first episode - losing Lisa and Ben even though he's making with the shady DC comics mind altering bullshit. I don't know if it's the best way to protect them, though, since they could be in danger and now WON'T KNOW HOW TO PROTECT THEMSELVES or who to call in the event of a supernatural creature attacking. *coughs*
But overall, I did enjoy the finale:) And I'm glad Misha is still employed.
