Supernatural 4.05

Ok, cute eppie.
I was literally on the floor laughing so hard at Dean's virgin comment. (I was making squeaking noises, the dog came to find out what was wrong!) Oh yeah, he totally came back a virgin.
Some interesting elements in this episode:
- Even though he was a killer, it was refreshing to hear from the monster's point of view. Although, you wonder why he couldn't just live out being Jamie's friend, instead of becoming a killer, no matter how sucky his life was. Are all shapeshifters doomed to become killers?
- Jamie - an interesting female character -- she was confident, strong, didn't totally give in to Dean's flirtation at first, stood up to the monster instead of just screaming. I think this is the closest to a Sarah Blake for Dean that we'll ever see.
Also, when they started making out before Lucy appeared in the bar, I went "No, Dean, you can't lose your virginity! Don't you know horror movie rules! Once you do, you're fair game for the monster!
That was the scene, where Dean started opening up and talking about his feelings, hubby started humming in the background "brown chicken, brown cow..."
Oh, once I picked up on the other bartender's name being "Lucy" after the Mina/Harker stuff, I went "oh, that's the shifter" -- anyone who's read Dracula could have picked that up.
Dean in lederhosen! I thought the spoiler pic I had seen of that was a manip! Jensen's knees!
Sam coming to the somewhat improbable rescue!
To quote Razor: "Apparently Sammy just likes to watch" -- especially the way he was watching Dean and Jamie making out at the end. Although now I'm thinking that night was so Sam/Jamie/Dean, based on Sam's little smirk.
I've noticed that in all the episodes Edlund writes, he makes Dean get the girl in an egregiously obvious way. It worked here, but it's a bit grating, I think. I'm gearing up to write some meta on something else...stay tuned, if I ever get the freakin' time.
Oh, something I just thought - Jamie wasn't Dean's typical type -- she wasn't brunette, wasn't overly busty. She was blond and kinda reminded me of Jess -- more Sam's type. But Sam's been possibly shacking up with Ruby 2.0 -- who's brunnette, pouty lipped and more of Dean's previous type. Hmm, I wonder if Dean is scoping out blonds cause of his mom. Oh god. Ew.
Took a while to get used to the black and white. I miss Jensen's green eyes. *sighs*
EDIT: Forgot to mention - that beauty that slays the beast line comes from King Kong -- and wow, what a death monologue! It's like all that Shakespeare you read in High School: "OH, I am slain!"

Oh, that looks neat. Some of Dean's hallucinations there -- yellow eyed Sam? Creepy. What is WITH everyone whumping on Dean this season? I feel like we haven't gotten a strong Sam episode since season 2. Although upcoming spoilers say that might change, but who knows, I'm trying to not spoil myself any further!
