Fic Organization rant or, "always a librarian"

Dec 04, 2007 17:51

I found an author who's fanfic I really enjoy reading. Really really good stuff. However, she does not have a homepage where her fic is stored and does not have a sticky post on her LJ with a listing of fic.

So if I want to read fic by her that hasn't been recc'd in a community, I have to scour through her fic tag. Which is what I ended up doing.

Believe me, if she wasn't such a good author, I would not have bothered.

The lack of organization...bothers me. And the entirety of someone's fic being stored solely on Livejournal? Scares me. Especially with the current climate, you don't know the status of LJ. Who's going to own LJ next?

Even if the situation with LJ was all sunshine and roses, I'd still hate to see someone's fic being stored only in one place. I know I'm not the best at updating my webpage (mental note, do that this weekend...) but the idea of there being only one copy of something out there? *twitches*

Combined with the lack of organizational tools to find fic? *twitches even more*

Am I the only one who gets annoyed by things like this?
