It's been 5 months since I joined my current employer and it has been a whirlwind experience so far. I've experience the typical politics, been burnt, been complimented, all within 5 months. I feel that I am on a good pace but compared to my team who are all high-caliber, driven, intelligent people, I pale in comparison. Hopefully 2007 is a better year for me, with us having relocated and settled in. Despite the initial struggles with 1 or 2 members, I really like this group of people I work with. They are all "ON" and I am developing skills in areas I have always wanted to but did not get a chance. My boss and I have different work styles so there was some conflict earlier on but I am glad that he is willing to accommodate our differences. All in all, the integration will take time but I am looking forward to functioning at 100% (if not better) by March or so.
Mom's divorce is quite close to being finalized. I try not to think about where my dad will live once the flat is returned to the govt. Need to have Noah commit to a yay/nay on whether or not my mom can come live with us, with Gladys as well. He's worried about the health insurance issue, and the financial responsibilities. But there are several ad-hoc health plans out there and we are both fairly marketable people so even if we are laid-off, we can still make it. It would also allow us to have a wider network of support for Naia. She'll have two extra people to interact with on an intimate basis, besides Noah and me!
When my mom called, Naia "chatted" with her and said, "I ya-you yaya!" (I love you Grandma). I think moments like these makes her miss us even more.
Our new sofa came 2 days ago! The accent chair comes this week! I love it and Naia loves it too cus she keeps trying to climb onto it. Even sat and looked through a book on it (she usually stands at the coffee table to do so). Only downside for her (upside for us) is that it is a taller piece and so she can't climb onto it without help. The upside for us is that we can now easily enforce the "no shoes on the sofa" rule!
A good number of people viewing but still no offers on the house yet. :o( I am tired of the commute and the Holiday Inn Express. The weather is turning colder and colder. Soon it will be non-peak season for selling a home . . . so depressing! Somebody buy our house!!!
