Have been working on getting our house ready for listing by this past Tuesday. Selling a house will either make or break your marriage! We could not agree on what were "critical" updates to do on the house, and we have been paying different contractors to get the work done due to our time constraints. Also, because I was not around most of the time, or when I was, Naia was around too so one of us had to watch her so the other could work on the updates, making the process slow and tedious. I leave for Columbus every week worried that Noah might have had another one of his moments and started on a project AGAIN - which inevitably ends up unfinished and we have to pay someone else in to finish it. He is driving me crazy on this end. I have had carpal tunnel for days now from working on home improvement and the pinching-nerves wake me up earlier than usual in the mornings. It's like getting intense muscle cramps in both hands. *Aw!* Noah is in a permanent daze cus he is so tired though that means that he has been sleeping well for two nights now. Usually he takes an evening nap then can't sleep through the night, then the next AM, he is tired and the same cycle happens again. I keep wishing that I had pushed him harder to get this done in small increments since May but there is no forcing him to do anything. So now he is suffering because we have to do all these hard, manual work day after day with minimal rest. No sympathy!
All in all, we've spent so much money on updating the house, we are making a big loss on the sale of the home. Give me a Singapore flat over an American-built home! The only bonus is that we are getting out of a so-so house without having to pay agent commission, moving costs, or admin fees. So whatever equity we have so far is ours to keep. Also, we are relocating to a more vibrant city with much more potential. I think if we get an offer on our house *crossing fingers*, we will be a lot more relaxed. The market is so bad now here in the US, it is so depressing.
Since Tuesday, we have had 1 realtors opening (where we had about 20+ realtors come to look at our home) and 2 agent requests to view our homes. Not bad considering the market but it could be just people shopping around. After each showing, although we try not to, we hope that we get a phonecall saying we have received an offer. *heart thumping* It's quite inconvenient when we have showings cus you have to leave the home and find things to do for about an hour. So we figure that we would just go to the nearby café or to see Noah's mom on the other side of town.
