Started job at MT May 1 and so far everything is going pretty alright. I like the office culture, the team of people I am working with, and the work I am doing. The only downside so far is this other alpha female in my team who is very forthright about her opinions and constantly tries to put me down. She keeps indicating that I do not know the business, I do not know the culture and therefore my ideas will not work. Er lady, it's because you guys are getting no where with structure that I was brought in. The current way is obviously not working because no outcome has resulted so why not try something new? I try to be as collaborative as possible but she'll use really annoying statements like, "You're completely missing the ball", or "You're getting too caught up in details", or "This is not working for me." which then pushes me over the edge and I start being bitchy too. *ugh* Those statements are not condusive and negative, not to mention disrespectful! Who cares about what you think! What will allow the business and the project to turn around is what we are supposed to do!
Because my performance in the first few months is being watched closely, I need to get key management on my side by creating some buzz around early successes. How am I supposed to do that with a gate-keeper in my way? *grrrrr*
My manager and another colleague I am to team up with are both out of town so I am to work with her for now but there can only be 1 alpha female in this team so I shall concede my throne and play listener, learner, and collaborator. OOOHHHMMMM . . . . . .
