Just Another Day in Paradise
Facilitator/VP of Pricing (in so many words): The Value Stream Mapping (VSM) event we are embarking on is not something we go through to ultimately reduce manpower. When there is excess resources at a hand-off/receiving point, we can re-deploy the excess resources to other points, or if the process does not require the excess manpower, re-deploy manpower to another value stream.
Me: OK, so what if incompetence is identified during the VSM process?
Facilitator: *blink*
Room: *silence*
My Manager: *bursts out laughing*
Me: (To Facilitator) Yes?
Facilitator: We're not trying to reduce manpower when we go through this process . . . .
Me: Do we re-deploy incompetency? More importantly, can we pick where it next goes?
My Manager: Line them up and let Grace stone'em
Me (whisper to Manager): I was not kidding.
My Manager: *bursts out laughing*
++++++ Couple of days later ++++++
My Manager: I almost died of laughter
Me: I was not kidding!
