Do I really have to go back home?

It's a lovely time here in West Haven, Connecticut. I finished Sharpe's Devil, the last of the series (another entry about that later!), and I have just started the first novel in Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin series. The name of the book? You'll all recognize it-- Master and Commander! (The Russell Crowe/Paul Bettany movie is based on the 10th book in the series, The Far Side of the World.)

My mother-in-law who is more like my mommy than not pampers me and treats me so lovely! I'm having such a restful time. I flew in Thursday evening, two days after Jeff and Leah came (darn work!). Jeff picked me up at the airport and we actually had dinner together and got to talk. Friday was spent at my in-laws' country club sitting by the pool visiting with Mom while Leah swam. Then we had a lovely Sabbath meal.

We spent Saturday in the manner that we always spend it - first we walked to services, then we walked home and sat down to another lovely meal. Then I took a three-hour nap. Yikes! I must have needed it. After I got up, we played Charades and cards, and read our books. After the Sabbath ended, we watched the first disc of the extended edition of The Two Towers, which my in-laws asked me to bring with me.

Today is a beach day! We have cousins who have a house right on East Haven beach. I'm so looking forward to shelling, walking, and maybe definitely sailing if they decide to float the Hobie Cat. Tomorrow we're driving up to Newtown to spend the 4th with my sister Mary, and Tuesday evening Jeff and I are meeting Stufsocker and her hubby for dinner at the best kosher vegetarian hippie-ish place!

Going back to real life on Monday morning is really going to suck...

vacation, books
