Slept for three and one-third hours this afternoon. I think yesterday got to me.
Spent tonight giggling at YouTube stuff. Needed a good giggle, because now that I'm finished with Everything Is Illuminated, I'm reading Breach of Faith: Hurricane Katrina and the Near-Destruction of a Great American City. The incompetence of FEMA and the play of politics by the White House was staggering in magnitude.
As many of you know, my political views run the gamut. I'm someone who believes that free minds and free markets are a good thing, and that they CAN and SHOULD exist in tandem with fair trade, sustainability, and environmental responsibility. So, I guess I'm a gorram independent. I think, while reading this, and after the experiences I've had over the past twelve months as a daughter of an elderly Katrina victim, that my politics are shifting more to the left.
Someone once told me that Winston Churchill said, "If you're young and conservative, you have no heart. If your older and liberal, you have no brain." I beg to differ.
