Hmmm...my computer has poltergeist. The CD drive keeps opening and closing all on its own. Jeff says we need to load some updated firmware (whatever that is!), but I think it's more sinister than that.

I bought the book that I need for the proofreading/copyediting course. It's really an excellent reference for writing in general. It...The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th Ed.. And it was not cheap. But it looks extremely useful. Many positions that I've seen for print editing and for writing prefer a knowledge of Chicago. This will be fun!
My mother-in-law has decided to fly down for my daughter's itty-bitty dance recital after all, if she can use miles to do it. I did tell her not to worry about it, because the dance school has dwindled to two classes (we're looking at a 20-minute recital, people!). But she's never missed a recital before (even though we're in Atlanta and she's in New Haven, CT!), and she doesn't want to start now. I'm touched. A little baffled, because that's a long way to travel to see two dances, but still touched.
Leah has been aceing all her end-of-year tests and projects, so I took her and a friend to Bruster's Ice Cream this afternoon. We also took Rudy. Bruster's is an outdoor place, so you can bring your dog, and they will give you a little "doggie dish" of vanilla ice cream. The minute Rudy sees that little plastic dish he starts to prance. Rudy is now lying down in the den with a full and happy tummy. It's a dog's life...
