Happy new year, everyone! Guess I'll be kicking off 2009 with a meme (annoyingly fitting, if you look at the results of 2008). Snagged from
goldenusagi.
Go to your calendar and find the first entry for each month in 2008. Post the first line/sentence of it in your journal, and that's your "Year in Review." (Commentary is in bold)
January: Just dropping by to wish you all a happy new year. (Post about what I did for New Year's)
February: Meme snagged from
clawofcat (The first "ask me questions" meme - I think I did two or three this year)
March: Reply to this post, and I will pick three of your icons. (Icon meme)
April: Now gakked from just about everybody, that list of questions that's supposed to reflect regional differences (Word meme)
May: Let's see how well-read I am. (Book meme)
June: Never fear, all those who picked something different for your favorite. (“Closure” chapter 2)
July: I read a lot of writers' blogs, most of them geared toward script writing for TV, but often I find things that are applicable to writing across the board. (Meta on betaing)
August: I'm still working on answering the questions from
this post. (Answering one of the questions from the second(?) “ask me questions” meme)
September: Stolen from
goldenusagi. (Alternative life meme)
October: Funny how your flist can become completely overwhelming and totally unmanageable when left unattended for two weeks. (Post about my trip to Ireland)
November: Nicked from
pfeifferpack. (Kitty meme)
December: In the process of betaing a fic,
slaymesoftly asked me, "What do you think the door to Spike's crypt is made of?" (Spike’s door poll)
It's kind of disappointing that so many of these are memes. I know I didn't write as much as I did in 2007, but still... I wrote one chapter fic, four one-shots, and eight drabbles, plus I finished up two chapter fics I'd started in 2007. And the only thing that shows up here is "Closure." I'm probably making more of it than it is (maybe I just do my writing later in the month or whatever), but this has been a very difficult year for me, writing-wise, and I kind of see the memes as evidence of failure. They're what I post when I have nothing better to offer. Those months-long stretches where I posted nothing but memes? So discouraging.
Anyway, enough waffling. That's 2008, and let's hope 2009 is better.
