How, all this time, have I missed the fact that post-apocalyptic scenarios are your kink? penny_lane_42 and I talk about them all the time, but I had no idea you shared the enthusiasm.

It begs the question: why've you never written one?

Because I'm not good at them, lol. I think post-apocalyptic fics work best when the apocalypse is only hinted at rather than described in detail, you know? Where you get little tidbits of information that suggest epicness, and you use your imagination to fill in the rest. (liz_marcs is particularly good at this, as I noted when I read the fic of hers that I just recced.) I'm not good at that kind of writing.

Ooh! Ooh ooh ooh! Have you read deird1's Come Crashing Down? It's 1500 words of exactly what you're talking about: brief lines that suggest whole apocalyptic landscapes. It's got character death and other really angsty things and is not the thing to read when you're feeling down, but I think it may be the post-apocalyptic fic of my year.

(Also, there's now a remix fic of it, Otherwise a Perfect Sky, which is less hinty but does an interesting job of totally reinterpreting Deird's story.)

I don't think I have, but I will definitely check them both out. Thanks!

ETA: Ah, just kidding, I have read Deird's fic, just didn't remember the title. But I'm looking forward to the remix.

I saw some episodes of that show a while back. It did look completely ridiculous. I can't believe they managed to get a second season...

Finished d/l season 3 of Chuck today. *\o/*

OMG it was hilarious. They canceled the show on a cliffhanger, and so the fanbase went INSANE and mailed twenty tons of nuts to CBS. So CBS was like, "OMG STOP SENDING US PEANUTS! We'll put your damn show back on. Just please, PLEASE, we're begging you, NO MORE NUTS." They made a 7-episode second season, and it got canceled. Again. But this time they made TWO endings, one that was a cliffhanger (in case it got renewed) and one that tied everything up (in case it didn't).

Yeah I read about that yesterday... I was telling my friend Heather about the Chuck/Subway thing and googled it and found this about the other fan led campaigns to save a show. *g*
