Just found out that "Shadows of a Brighter Day" was nominated for Best Future Fic (Angst) at Absence of Light Awards. Thank you, nominating fairy!

Also, dragonflylady77 - remember the thing with the door to Buffy's house opening backwards in one episode? You're not crazy. It's "Halloween." :)

sometimes i'm random, fic: shadows, awards

Congrats on the nom!

Speaking of doors doing strange things (how's that for a segue?), the library doors act oddly, as well. In School Hard, Giles and Jenny barricade the doors to keep vamps out, so they apparently open inward only. However, we later see in Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered that they open in either direction (Cause Xander's barricade fails to stop Buffy, who just pulls the door open).

It's always amused me.

LOL, I've noticed that about the library doors, too. I suppose the barricade would at least trip the vamps on their way in, right?

I'm beginning to think there were actually two different sets for Buffy's house, one with a backwards door. I just watched "What's My Line" and in part 1, the door opens the right way, and in part 2, they don't actually use the door, but in the scene in the foyer when Cordy's talking to the bug guy, you can see that it's backwards.

Didn't they sometimes use an actual house for Buffy's house? Or was that just for the outside shots (until the end of S3)?

Yeah, I think they did, and the exterior shots are all consistent (what I was calling "the right way"). I'll have to keep watching and see whether the door's backwards in the later seasons.
