Well, I didn't end up going to Belize, obviously. Hurricane Dean passed by with very little damage to the village, and Hurricane Felix missed Belize entirely. I will be going back eventually, just not right now.
I think I've finally worked out my schedule for the semester. With 4 classes plus one audit and including a class in Boston at the Center for Urban Ministries, It'll be a busy time. Basically, I have one class on Mondays and three on Wednesdays, with the rest of the week "free." I'm currently looking for a job, but not having much luck. I applied for a position in the President's office as her personal assistant (it was a long shot) and got flat out rejected, so I've pretty much been unmotivated to look anywhere else. I've asked around, and campus jobs are pretty limited..some openings in the dining hall but that's really not my thing.
So off campus I go. Perhaps I'll look into baby-sitting again, although most of those jobs that I've seen posted around campus involve diapers. And I don't do diapers. Let's not go there.
Still reeling from Belize. I did a video interview today, which was cool. I love talking about the trip and have been to whoever stops long enough to listen. It was a pretty amazing summer, and getting back into work mode from that has been a bit of a challenge. I'm already behind in my classes, and I've already missed the first day of my class in Boston due to unavoidable circumstances (I hadn't technically registered for it yet..minor details).
BUT the amazingly good news is that after this semester I am three classes away from finishing my Masters completely. Still have some things to work out with the head of the department, but I will be done come May. Then the frantic search for a job, or the "next step," whatever that may be. I've been batting around the idea of another year to get a Masters in Divinity with the possibility of ordination sometime down the line, but when finances and such come into play it seems more feasible not to be my overachieving self for once.
Brian (my roommate) and I have been making pretty serious plans to go to England this summer for a week long conference in Biblical Archeology at Oxford University. He went a few years ago and said it was amazing, and asked if I wanted to go back with him the next time he goes. It'll be a bit pricey but probably well worth it for the experience, plus dude..its England. And it may give me an opportunity to head up to Scotland for a few days. So we'll see.
*sighs* "we'll see" is the story of my life.
Anyways, I'm off to go cook dinner for some of my friends in Ipswitch. Stewed chicken and rice and beans, with ice cream for desert. Be jealous.
