Can we see the changes?

I find myself wondering what the internet is going to do to nostalgia, what impact that might have on culture.

I've been watching a lot of shows from the 80s and 90s while I work on the webcomic and YouTube stuff, and the differences between the decades in which I grow up are standing out in a much greater stark relief than they ever did before. Having the internet available has made access to nostalgia so much easier...and I can't help but think that this has to have some kind of cultural impact.

Before, unless you watched a re-runs channel or some station ran a marathon, you were pretty much stuck with "today", like it or lump it. But now...not so much. And I find myself wondering what that will do to culture over time. How will that impact new creativity, if at all. Will it lock us in stasis, will we end up with a gestalt of times past, will it just mean we have an archive and the march of culture continues on unaffected?

I just find myself wondering, is all.

90s, nostalgia, 80s
