INTO THE OCEAN (My first Fanfic)

Summary: “I feel like I’m drowning and I’m not even in the water.”
the main inspiration for this fic was the song I'm A Pirate, You're A Princess even though the lyrics don't match up quite right all the time XD oh well.
INTO THE OCEAN
It wasn’t a day to be at the beach that much was certain, but he didn’t care. Even as the rain poured down and the thunder rang above he stared out into the crashing waves. The cigarette hanging from his lips had long since gone out and he was soaked to the bone. He didn’t even hear the footsteps approaching behind him. “You’re going to catch a cold.”
He just smiled and pulled the dead cig from his mouth, tossing it out into the sand. “What are you doing here?”
The new comer came to stand next to him, not looking at him just staring out into the horizon, not answering his question either. Instead he asked one in return “This brings back memories, ne?”
“Only ones I wish were still……………….nevermind.”
The other man turned to look at the shorter who refused to look him in the eye. “Ruki….” He paused not knowing how to continue. “What do you want me to do? I can’t .”
There was a long silence that hung heavy between the two. “I want you…..” He sighed. “Remember how we used to come here and make sand castles and run around on the beach until after the sun had set?” His voice had softened
Reita chuckled. “Yeah…” That was a long time ago.
They stood in silence for a while longer. “Ruki..why do you hate me so much? Now all you’re ever doing is avoiding me like I’m the plague.”
There was a brief hesitation and then a fit of laughter erupted from the smaller man. “I don’t really see how this is funny.” But Ruki continued to laugh; tears were now streaming down his face. “I asked a serious question.”
Ruki made some quick gasps for air. “Can’t you see……I am only laughing to keep from crying? Obviously its not working too well is it?” His voice was nearing hysterics. The laughing slowly died down but the tears were still rolling down his face and falling into the already wet sand. The rain made it hard to tell how much he was crying but the look on his face clearly affirmed that he was broken. “I never ever hated you. I don’t think I could hate you if I tried, and believe me I’ve tried. I even tried to forget you but that’s even more impossible. The fact is my feelings toward you are quite the opposite.” There was a chocked chuckle that could have been mistaken as a sob if he hadn’t been smiling. “I feel like I’m drowning and I’m not even in the water. You’ve always been my best friend but then she came into the picture. I just felt…………..feel abandoned.”
That one sentence was all Reita needed, he surged forward and wrapped the other in his arms tightly. The rain continued to cascade down on the two but they just swayed back and forth slightly. The ground under them swished back and forth and turned into a sandy soup as the movement forced the water to collect in the compacted sand. Reita pulled back slightly and looked down at Ruki who seemed to find his and Reita’s feet rather interesting at the moment. Reaching out Reita slid his finger underneath Ruki’s chin and slowly brought his face closer as he raised Ruki’s to meet his. Their lips touched lightly, tentatively, but soon the innocent connection turned into an intimate scene. Minutes seemed only seconds as they continued to delve in each other.
Reita withdrew first. “My parents aren’t going to be happy when they find out the arranged marriage is off.” He mumbled.
Ruki looked up and smiled “Let’s just run away even though that sounds so corny. I’ll go anywhere with you……..I love you.” The last three words were whispered into his jacket but he heard them loud and clear.
“I’ve always loved you.” Reita smiled and kissed the top of Ruki’s head. He left his chin resting there for a while longer and then sighed. They both pulled back and this time neither was afraid to meet the other’s eyes. “Close your mouth silly, you look like a fish.” Ruki promptly smacked Reita lightly across the chest but fell back into his arms shortly after.

This is my first fan fic................I'm pretty proud of it I guess.
I had the hardest time with the picture I was given.........I'm not complaining, I like the challenge but I just had so many ideas running through my head I didn't know where to go lol. Finally this just popped into my head when I started listening to that song and wah lah. I enjoyed writing it and am already working on my next fic ^^
