So I've been off the social networking stuff lately, ie: Livejournal and Facebook, so I haven't really read what you lot have been saying about Half Blood Prince and Torchwood. I have a few thoughts on both and thought I would share. :)
So what the fuck was with Torchwood! I am so disappointed with that so called mini-series. After Ianto died I didn't even care how the thing turned out and only half watched the final episode. Also, Jack is not the Jack we know and love. Sure he has some dark stuff and angst, like many but him sacrificing his grandson was so out of character and then to go and be all "I don't care anymore and I don't care if I see you again" was wrong. I know a lot of people are saying "what else could he have done?" and "he made the hard decision" but I still think any other time he would have found another way. It was bad enough that we had to endure Owen and Tosh getting killed off last season (and I didn't even like Owen) but then we get that ball of crap. The bad thing is is that I would have loved it if the characters weren't destroyed. I liked the idea of the story and the social commentary of it but it wasn't the Torchwood that I've grown to love. It would have been one thing if it was the only bit of Torchwood we had, there had been no other seasons before this and it was a one off mini series, than I probably would be thinking it was amazing television but as it wasn't it just doesn't feel as if it goes with the rest of the series. On the one hand, if that's the end of the show at least it went out with a bang.
One the other hand I really liked Potter. I know a lot of people a disappointed with it but I thought they kept most of the important bits. I will say I wished they had shown the stuff about Riddle's parents because I think the whole parentage thing says a lot about who he is. I honestly haven't read the book in so long that I can't think of what was missing. I loved the scene with Hermione and Harry on the steps after she sees Ron and Lavender kissing. I was so happy they put the scene in where Snape and Dumbledore are talking about what Snape has to do and how he doesn't want to and the bit before Snape kills him and Dumbledore says "please". They always seem to leave the little but important bits out and this time they didn't. I know many people were upset with the ending but I liked it. I like the quietness of it, it made it all more personal to me and emotional. There will be a big enough fight and sadness in the next one that I kind of appreciate that we didn't have a big battle in the end. I thought Tom Felton has really brought a lot to Draco and did a fantastic job this time. I teared up a few times during the movie so I know I'll be a mess in the next one. Can't wait for it!
