What's your favourite daydream?

Sometimes I think, what if I'd been a few years older? I daydream of riding by my father's side, of turning away the orc blade that cut him down from the saddle.

Sometimes I think, what if I'd held my temper a few hours longer? I daydream of fording the Isen with my own men at my side, rallying to my cousin's aid in the nick of time and bringing him home safe to his father.

Sometimes I think, what if I'd been a few minutes sooner? I daydream of knocking my uncle away the fell beast's path, of parrying the blow that broke my sister's arm, of rejoicing in her triumph as her finest moment shines untainted by death and pain.

But sometimes I think of so many other times, so many other battles, and I wonder: what if I'd been a few years younger? A few minutes late? A few seconds slow? And that's when I stop daydreaming, because some dreams don't bear thinking.
