I spent time yesterday and today taking stock, facilitated by a monthly measuring session yesterday and a very encouraging phone coaching session today. Accomplishments so far:
- Identified overall goals for the year, and broke them down to manageable short term goals
- Identified a tool set - the behavior modification program outlined in Habits Not Diets, supported by any and every reasonable resource I encounter as I research the psychology of overeating and how to break ingrained habits this year
- Faithfully logged everything I ate and every calorie burning activity I did. This is a CRITICAL thing for me
- Did something active on 24 of 28 days
- Meditated on 22 of 28 days
- Slept at least 7 hours most nights (also critical for me)
- Built a support system of family, friends, and professionals so I'll have resources to stay on track the whole year
- Made friends with two different scary exercise machines including venturing into a gym, which was a new and scary place for me
- Successfully navigated eating in restaurants, weathering a couple of power outages, and several other major stressors
- Planned and began a well rounded workout routine including cardio machines, free weights and plenty of stretching
- Lost 9.2 pounds and 6.5 inches overall during a four week period
- Averaged a daily calorie deficit of 1,000 - 1,200 calories. My WORST day was still a 500 calorie deficit
Thank you SO MUCH to all of you who've been encouraging and helpful this month. I'm looking forward to sharing this journey with you!
